U.K. royal wedding set for 2012?

LONDON — Britain's Prince William will marry his longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton in 2012, on the eve of the London Olympics, the News of the World newspaper reported on Sunday.
The couple want to celebrate their vows in spring 2012 when London is in the world's spotlight and just before the prince's 30th birthday, according to the tabloid.
"William and Kate are both aware a royal wedding followed by the jubilee celebrations and the Olympics will really put Britain on the map again," the newspaper reported, citing a senior palace insider.

Plans are being drawn-up in secret ahead of the event, the newspaper said.
"This will be a landmark occasion. The Chinese may have put on a great show for the last Olympics but nobody can do royal pomp like we can. It will be spectacular," the source told the News of the World.
